Overview
Timezones are one of the most common sources of confusion in scheduling — and Schedly is built to eliminate that confusion automatically. Whether you're managing Event Types under Schedly Services, running Service Booking for clients, or coordinating Teams across regions, Schedly ensures that every meeting shows up at the right local time for everyone involved. This article explains how to set your own working timezone, how booking pages detect an attendee's timezone, and how to keep team schedules accurate across borders and daylight saving changes.
Prerequisites
Before configuring timezone behavior, make sure you have the following:
- An active Schedly account (Basic, Pro, or Enterprise plan).
- Access to your Schedly dashboard — log in with your email and password, Sign in with SAML/OIDC, or Sign in with magic link.
- For team-wide timezone coordination, you'll need Admin access, since only Admins can manage members and team settings under Settings > Organizations > [Your Organization Name] > Members.
- At least one Event Type created under Schedly Services so you have something to schedule.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Setting Your Account Timezone
Your account timezone is the "home base" Schedly uses to interpret your availability and display bookings on your dashboard.
- Log in to Schedly and land on your dashboard.
- Open your account settings from the main navigation menu.
- Locate the timezone field and select your working timezone from the list.
- Save your changes so all new and existing availability is interpreted against this timezone.

This timezone becomes the default reference for every Event Type you create, unless you override it at the event level.
Setting an Event-Level Timezone
Sometimes a specific event should always run in one fixed timezone — for example, a recurring team standup that should stay locked to headquarters time regardless of where the host travels.
- Click the Schedly Services button on the main navigation menu.
- Click Event Types, then either click New to create an event or select an existing event to edit.
- Enter or confirm the event name and description.
- Set the Duration — this must be between 15 and 120 minutes.
- Configure the timezone option for this event: either inherit your account timezone or lock it to a specific region.
- Set the number of Seats if the event allows multiple participants.
- Check Requires confirmation if you want to approve bookings before they finalize.
- Click the Save button to apply your timezone and event settings.

How Booking Pages Auto-Detect Attendee Timezones
When an attendee opens your booking page from the Service Booking flow, Schedly automatically detects their local timezone based on their device and browser settings. Every available time slot is then displayed in their local time — not yours.
For example, if you offer a 30-minute slot at 2:00 PM in New York, an attendee in London will see that same slot displayed as 7:00 PM their time. Neither of you has to do any math — Schedly handles the conversion automatically.
Attendees can also manually change the detected timezone on the booking page using the timezone selector, which is helpful if they're traveling or booking on behalf of someone in another region.
Locking Timezone vs. Auto-Detect
Understanding the difference is key to avoiding mismatched meetings:
- Auto-detect (default): The booking page reads the attendee's browser timezone and shows all slots in their local time. Best for public-facing bookings where attendees could be anywhere.
- Locked timezone: The event always displays in one fixed timezone regardless of where the attendee is. Best for in-person events, region-specific webinars, or when every participant should coordinate around a single reference time.
Key Details & Limits
- Event durations must be set between 15 and 120 minutes.
- Booking page timezone auto-detection uses the attendee's browser/device timezone.
- Attendees can manually override the detected timezone on the booking page.
- Insights data is updated in real-time, so bookings reflect correct times immediately.
- Plan availability: Basic Plan ($10/month, up to 10 team members), Pro Plan ($25/month, up to 50 team members, includes Teams and Insights), and Enterprise Plan (custom pricing, unlimited team members).
- Team management features — needed for coordinating timezones across a group — require the Pro Plan or higher.
- Team members can view each other's schedules, which display in each viewer's own timezone.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will attendees automatically see meeting times in their own timezone? Yes. When an attendee opens your booking page through Service Booking, Schedly auto-detects their timezone from their browser and shows all available slots in their local time.
Can I force an event to always show in one timezone? Yes. Set the event to a locked timezone when editing the Event Type. This overrides auto-detection so every attendee sees the same fixed reference time.
What timezone does my dashboard use? Your dashboard displays times in your account timezone. All your Event Types inherit this timezone by default unless you set an event-level override.
Do team members in different regions see the same schedule? Team members can view each other's schedules under the Teams section, and each person sees times converted to their own local timezone automatically.
Does Schedly adjust for daylight saving time? Yes. Schedly stores timezones by region (not fixed UTC offsets), so daylight saving transitions are applied automatically. A meeting scheduled in a DST-observing region will shift correctly when the clocks change.
Can an attendee change the detected timezone? Yes. The booking page includes a timezone selector, so attendees who are traveling or booking for someone else can pick a different timezone.
Troubleshooting
Meeting appears at the wrong time for an attendee. First confirm whether the event uses auto-detect or a locked timezone. If it's locked, every attendee sees the fixed timezone regardless of their location — switch it to auto-detect on the Event Type if you want per-attendee conversion. Also confirm the attendee's device clock and browser timezone are correct, since auto-detection relies on those.
Your own availability shows at the wrong hour. Check your account timezone in settings. If it's incorrect, all inherited Event Types will be off. Update it, save, and confirm your event-level overrides.
Times shifted by an hour after a date change. This is expected daylight saving behavior. Schedly applies regional DST rules automatically — the underlying meeting time in each participant's local zone remains correct.
Team schedules look inconsistent across regions. This is normal — each team member sees times in their own local timezone. Compare the same event in each person's view; the absolute time is identical, only the displayed local time differs.
Event Type won't save after changing timezone. Ensure all required fields are filled — including a Duration between 15 and 120 minutes — then click Save again.
